THE FUTURE LOOKS SHITTY
PHOTOGRAPHIC PROJECT
ROME, 2025
THE FUTURE LOOKS SHITTY is a self-aware cry for help.
A rebellion against the suffocating grip of social media, all wrapped up in a series of photos that might make you laugh, cringe, or just think, "Well, I’m not alone.”
This project is a reflection of our collective obsession with screens and social media.
It all starts with the “Avatar”, a mannequin. It’s the symbol of how we craft and curate online identities, feeding on validation like it's a drug. Then comes the endless Doom Scrolling. My phone keeps showing me the worst of humanity, and I can't look away. I’m hooked. I constantly fall for Rage Bait content.
And when I finally put the phone down, hours have gone by. I’m a shell of myself, buried under the weight of digital noise. And I swear it won’t happen again, until… the next notification pops up.
But there must be some hope. A way out.
The last photos in the series show it: real, live human connection.
We need community. We need to play, laugh, talk, and touch grass, literally.
Because when we’re together, the future doesn’t look so shitty after all.
