I'm Livia Alcalde

— a Rome-born filmmaker, photographer, and writer.  I started in fashion, collaborating with international brands and magazines like L’Officiel, Elle, and GQ, before expanding into narrative and documentary filmmaking.

My work explores the space between memory and image. 
Over the past fifteen years, I’ve directed music videos, short films, and documentaries across the United States, Germany, France, and India.

My short film Reshma was officially selected at the Indy Short Film Festival (Academy Award qualifying), and was a finalist for 16 Days 16 Film, with features in Variety and ScreenDaily. My documentary Leher won Best Documentary at Close Up Edinburgh DocuFest and the EQAD Equality and Diversity Film Festival.

Today, I continue to explore visual storytelling — across film, fine art photography, and the quiet rituals of image-making.
